Created to mark our 40th year of supporting survivors of rape and sexual abuse, the “It’s Not Me, It’s You” campaign challenges the victim-blaming narratives that survivors have faced for decades.

For too long, survivors have been asked questions that shift responsibility onto them — What were you wearing? Why didn’t you fight back? Had you been drinking? Why didn’t you report it sooner? These questions are not harmless. They silence survivors and reinforce shame and doubt.

Let’s be clear: rape and sexual abuse are never the victim’s fault. Responsibility always lies with the perpetrator.
