Adult Counsellor – Sexual Violence Service

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Adult Counsellor to join our team, delivering specialist therapeutic support to adult survivors of sexual violence.
The Role
As an Adult Counsellor, you will provide trauma-informed, one-to-one counselling to adults who have experienced sexual violence. You will manage your own caseload and work within a multi-agency framework to support clients both within and outside of the criminal justice system.
You will:
- Provide professional, ethical, and non-judgemental counselling to adult survivors of sexual violence
- Manage and prioritise a caseload effectively, maintaining accurate and confidential records
- Work with complex trauma, applying knowledge of the impact of sexual abuse on mental health and wellbeing
- Operate within safeguarding policies and procedures, responding appropriately to risk
- Work collaboratively with partner agencies, including police, social care, health, and education services
- Work therapeutically with clients navigating the criminal justice process where appropriate
- Maintain clear and accurate case records using data monitoring systems
- Work within the ethical framework of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP)
- Keep up to date with current legislation, policy, and developments in the sexual violence sector (including SARCs and ISVA services)
- Travel across service locations and partner venues as required
This role requires a highly skilled, compassionate practitioner who can work effectively with complex client needs in a busy, client-focused environment.
About You
You will have:
- A Diploma in Counselling
- Registered membership with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP)
- Evidence of continuing professional development in safeguarding
You will also bring:
- Experience of working with adults who have experienced sexual abuse
- Experience working in a busy, client-focused environment
- Experience of maintaining records and data systems
- Experience of multi-agency working
- A strong understanding of the impact of sexual violence and trauma
- Knowledge of safeguarding, confidentiality, consent, and capacity
- Awareness of mental health issues affecting survivors
- Excellent listening, communication, and interpersonal skills
- The ability to work independently and as part of a multi-agency team
- Understanding of the wider context and policy landscape relating to sexual violence
