What is Sexual Violence?

Sexual Violence is the term used to describe all acts of sexual abuse including rape, assault by penetration, sexual assault, sexual harassment, sexual exploitation.   

What is Rape?

The legal definition of rape is penetration with a penis of the vagina, anus or mouth of another person without their consent.

What is assault by penetration?

Intentional penetration of the anus or vagina of another person with part of a body or with an object and the penetration is sexual

What is Sexual Assault?

Intentionally touching another person where the touching is sexual, the other person doesn’t consent.

What is Sexual Harassment?

Behaviour characterized by the making of unwelcome and inappropriate sexual remarks or physical advances in a workplace or other professional or social situation.

What is Sexual Exploitation?

 An act or acts committed through non-consensual abuse or exploitation of another person’s sexuality for the purpose of sexual gratification, financial gain, personal benefit or advantage, or any other non-legitimate purpose.
